Day
1 (Flexible / Suggestion Only): Adelaide to Wilpena
Leave Adelaide and travel north via
the picturesque Clare Valley wine region to Hawker and onto Wilpena. Following
a coffee break (or a quick tasting), at the Clare Valley head to the mid-north
farming town of Spalding via the old mining town of Burra. From here, stop at
beautiful Bundaleer Forest and take a short walk before driving on to Jamestown
and Peterborough with its rich heritage of Australia's railways and trains. From
Peterborough it's on to Orroroo, with a quick detour to the state's largest river
red gum, 900 years old & 10 metres in diameter. From here take the road to
Hawker, via Carriton and Cradock stoping to explore old mine sites, before following
the road to Hawker. From there it's a short drive to Wilpena Pound.

Day
2 (Flexible / Suggestion Only): Around
Wilpena (Flinders Ranges National
Park)
A full day to experience the grandeur of the Wilpena
Pound whilst exploring the Flinders Ranges National Park. This area is rich with
bird and wildlife, and offers excellent bushwalking opportunities including the
Hills Homestead Walk and Wangarra Lookout Walk (walking trail map included in
your travel pack). Scenic flights over Wilpena Pound are available and are highly
recommended. Wilpena Pound offers a magnificent natural amphitheatre with towering
red walls. After lunch explore more of the Flinders Ranges National Park by taking
the scenic route north of Wilpena Pound towards Bunyeroo Valley west through Brachina
Gorge until you arrive to another T-intersection at which point you drive south
and then back around to Wilpena on the very scenic Moralana Scenic Drive. This
incredibly scenic drive collectively gives you the most spectacular views of the
marvellous Flinders Rangers.

Day
3 (Flexible / Suggestion Only): Wilpena
to Blinman (Flinders
Ranges National Park)
Day 3 has you exploring more of the Flinders
Ranges National Park this time travelling north to Blinman taking time to view
the Great Wall of China, a unique natural formation. Along the way detours include
Wilkawillina Gorge and the Skytrek 4WD trip to Mt Caernarvon via Willow Springs.
Mt Caernarvon is the highest vehicle access peak in the Flinders Ranges and offer
spectacular 360 degree views of the surrounding ranges. On arrival into Blinman
(once the site of the largest copper mine in the Flinders), you have the opportunity
to explore the facinating historic mining site. On arrival into Blinman use it
as a base to explore the surrounding region. Mount Chambers Gorge to the east
of the town and Parachilpa Gorge to the West offers bushwalking, rock pools and
Aboriginal engravings. Hannigans Gap and Artimore Ruins to the North is a popular
4WD Trek offering iconic outback views with ruins on a backdrop of a gum lined
creek.

Day
4 (Flexible / Suggestion Only): Blinman to Arkaroola (Gammon NP)
Day 4 drive to Arkaroola,
the 610 hectare private wilderness sanctuary run by the Sprigg family. One of
the most spectacular sites in Australia, the sanctuary features rugged mountains,
towering granite peaks and magnificent gorges, which are best seen by taking the
Ridgetop Tour to the top of Sillers Lookout. Tag-along 4WD tours and guided bush
tucker walks are available. At night, visitors can stargaze from the Arkaroola
Astronomical Observatory. Adjoining
Gammon Ranges National Park
comprises arid wilderness with rugged, spectacular scenery, interesting wildlife
and a wealth of Aboriginal culture and European heritage. The Gammons offer some
memorable bushwalking experiences .

Day
5 (Flexible / Suggestion Only): Arkaroola to Quorn
Spend the morning exploring more of the attractions
around the Gammon Ranges National
Park and Mount Painter Sanctuary depending on your interests. Thereafter
spend part of the day travelling to Quorn. Try out the bakery in Copley before
travelling to the Leigh Creek coal mine where coalfield tours are available. At
Beltana you can detour east to the Sliding Rock copper mine ruins. Caution should
be taken at this site due to the numerous mineshafts. From here, travel south
to Parachilna and the famous Prairie Hotel, with its welcoming bar and award winning
menu of feral food. Continue through Parachilna Gorge with
a recommended detour to the spectacular Buckaringa, Middle and Warren Gorges before
arriving at Quorn the home of the Pichi Richi Railway,
one of Australia's best known steam train journeys.

6 (Flexible / Suggestion Only): Quorn
to Mnt
Remarkable NP
An early morning start allows you to explore
Pichi Richi Pass, Woolshed Flat, Richman Valley and the Mount Brown area before
departing Quorn
& heading south to Wilmington. Wilmington is the northern entry point to Mount
Remarkable National Park and Alligator Gorge, known for its ruggedness and stunning flora and fauna. Enjoy
some of the excellent short walks from Blue Gum Flat including into stunning Alligator
Gorge. Later in the afternoon leave the Blue Gum Flat section
of Mt Remarkable National Park and re-enter the park via Mambay creek wher you
will spend the night at its excellent campground and enjoy the great walks to
Black Range Lookout and Daveys Gulley Trail.

Remarkable NP to Adelaide
Day 7 spend the day journeying back to Adelaide, perhaps stopping at Wirrabara
Forest before driving to Adelaide via Clare and Gawler. Depending on what time
and how you are departing Adelaide take time to explore Adelaide's gardens, cultural
and culinary attractions or
take the opportunity to visit Glenelg and unwind on Adelaide's most popular and
picturesque beach.
